Three Rivers and Six Fingers Thrice

Inhabitants of a nearby village made the Three Rivers petroglyphs (rock carvings)... Over 20,000 ... have been identified in the area.

The people were of the Jornada Mogollon prehistoric Indian culture, of which there are no known modern descendants.

The petroglyphs' purpose and meaning are not entirely clear... Many almost certainly had religious meaning. The ridge may have been a good lookout point, a sacred site, a stop on a trade route, or a point on a territorial boundary. The petroglyphs have endured here for centuries... this fragile resource...

Well, yeah, we went to Three Rivers, New Mexico a week ago and some of the pictures seen there are presented here:

The most impressing petroglyph that I saw was the next one, found at "the sacred ridge":

Petroglyphologist Nile Root (1926 - 2004) declared of it:

This image of a hand with six fingers exemplifies the mysteries that we will never be able to solve as we ponder the rock art at Three Rivers.
The hand reaches toward the sky with a wavy design over it. (A snake? The Milky Way?) Celestial designs are to the right; below is another hand with only five fingers.

Apart of this six fingered hand, there are other two more six fingered hands at Three Rivers, the next one is the evidence painted by Fredric H. Cowart II (his drawing below. Note: dear reader, if you have a picture of this one depicting two hands, each with six fingers, please, post it on a link); Cowart thus declared of this 'six fingers twice' petroglyph, which he painted in his Sketchbook "The Best of Three Rivers", 2001, pp. 44-45, and for which he devoted his longest writing:

"It is a pet theory of mine, shunned by other scholars, that a special six fingered shaman may indeed have presided at Three Rivers. In his society he would have been elevated - rather than diminished - by his deformity. Such an individual, a man of the rainbows, who benefited enormously from his polydactyly, would already possess the attributes of a superman in the eyes of his people. Supplications would have come from abroad to receive his pronouncements and his medicine. His ability to heal and to control the weather would have been renowned. Even the bravest of the war chiefs would have quaked before his wrath, and the people would have sought his advice and judgment in all matters of importance. The icon of one of his special hands appears again, a third time, on the sacred ridge at Three Rivers [here, presented above]" (F. H. Cowart II)

Even when today, from time to time a person appears with six fingers in one hand or six toes in one foot, the individual represented in Three Rivers seems to have had 6 fingers in each hand! Similarly, the next one described in the Bible, had six in each extremity (24 in total)! (a genetic aberration):

2 Samuel 21:20
There was war at Gath again, where there was a man of great stature who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in number; and he also had been born to the giant (Heb. Raphah or Rapha, product of the Rephaim living within the Canaanite Philistines).

The Bible confirms this record by repeating it:

1 Chronicles 20:6
Again there was war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature who had twenty-four fingers and toes, six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot; and he also was descended from the giants [Heb. Rapha].

The next pteroglyph, at the beginning of the trail, Cowart entitled "The Monster Mask":

While the next one presented here is a human face (Andersons' courtesy); Fred H. Cowart the Second called this one "Figure, wearing earrings" and declared of it:

"Several scholars have mentioned the "almond-shaped eyes" used by Jornada Mogollon craftsmen in their depictions of faces and masks"

The next are animals that the Anderson Family was able to photograph, a long nosed mammal; a fish; A wolf falling over a deer.

Then, incomprehensible messages were also present, encoded presumably by the same Mogollon craftsmen:

Three ram-heads can be seen distributed among a cipher; then, five like cups aligned, one of them falling at the left side; the next one seems like dots or planets. The next one particularly aroused the curiosity of Fred Cowart who did its drawing and entitled it:

"The Typewriter Petroglyph"
"What is it? A counting board? A lunar calendar of recorded full moons?" (Idem, pp. 16-17.)

As we saw earlier, and related to particular puzzles, an Intelligent Design perspective can be used in Archaeology to define and to find common patterns and messages, and the very same can be said for Biology.
